Job Overview

Texas Responsible Energy, Inc. (TREE) is seeking a motivated Apprentice Electrician to join our dynamic team. This role offers an opportunity to learn and grow in the renewable energy field, working closely with experienced professionals. The Apprentice Electrician will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar energy systems for residential and commercial customers. This includes gaining hands-on experience with electrical wiring in compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and safety protocols. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of journeymen and master electricians to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of solar energy systems, both residential and commercial.

  • Support the planning and implementation of Main Panel Upgrades (MPU) and Critical Load Panel (CLP) installations.

  • Learn to interpret blueprints, photovoltaic (PV) line drawings, and product manuals while adhering to NEC standards.

  • Help transport, assemble, and install solar equipment while maintaining safety and efficiency.

  • Participate in DC and AC electrical runs, including work on rooftops, ladders, and confined spaces.

  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting system malfunctions under the guidance of senior electricians.

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, NEC codes, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Help ensure job site cleanliness and timely project completion.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Some relevant electrical or solar experience preferred.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.

  • Skills: Willingness to learn how to interpret electrical drawings, bend EMT conduit, and use trade tools.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds; work on rooftops in varying weather conditions.

  • Certifications: Understanding of OSHA standards and basic NEC codes is a plus.

  • Transportation: Reliable transportation to job sites in East Texas (Tyler and surrounding areas), DFW, or Houston.

Compensation

$17.50 - $22.50 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).

Schedule

  • Varies based on project size and complexity:

    • Residential projects: 1–3 days

    • Commercial projects: 2 weeks to several months

  • Notification provided at least 5 business days before project start dates.
